Let’s make complex things feel simple, useful, and human.

I’m a Senior UX Designer with 8+ years’ experience across New Zealand and the UK, specialising in complex products in FinTech, e-commerce, and regulated environments.

I focus on bringing clarity to complexity and using discovery, research, and collaboration to help teams understand what needs to be solved before moving into delivery. Working internationally has shaped how I approach design: I adapt quickly, listen carefully, and balance user needs with business goals.

Mentorship & Leadership
It’s important to create environments where people feel comfortable contributing and asking questions. I aim to bring a calm, supportive presence to mentoring and team sessions, and I’m an active mentor on ADPlist.

How I work
I take a collaborative, structured approach, working closely with product, engineering, and stakeholders to build shared understanding and move forward with clarity.

Whether facilitating workshops, solving problems with teams, or speaking with users, I keep things simple, aligned, and grounded in real insight.

Industry experience
I’ve spent much of my career in regulated, high-friction spaces, particularly payments and transactional journeys. I’m comfortable navigating constraints and using them to shape clear, intuitive experiences that still meet business and regulatory needs.

“It’s rare to find someone who combines deep expertise in UX methodologies with a natural ability to build strong relationships and communicate ideas effectively at every level—but Katelyn does this with ease.

Her mentorship has been instrumental in developing others and helping to shape a culture of growth and internal progression within the UX team. She’s a highly respected colleague, and her proactive, thoughtful approach makes her a genuine pleasure to work with”
