Overview
Ping is a digital wallet owned by Trade Me. Ping allows customers to make safe and fast purchases on-site.
Throughout regular customer surveying, there was repeated feedback that Ping's Icons in Dark Mode were "really hard to see". Not only was this worth looking into due to accessibility concerns but there is also a growing number of Trade Me customers choosing to use our native apps in dark mode.
Process
I conducted a heuristic design evaluation of Trade Me native apps in dark mode, for both iOS and Android. From there, I was able to identify the extent of updates needed. Using Ping's branding guidelines to iterate an appropriate 'Dark mode Ping Purple', meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2023)
“We’ve been selling a lot recently, and I went to withdraw my Ping balance and noticed that the Ping logo in the transaction (dark mode) list is really hard to see.”
